About Us

Jivan Vikas Maitri (JVM) is one of the registered bodies of Jesuits in Chhattisgarh, working towards bringing the marginalized and tribal to the main stream. It was established in 1991.

More than 1/3 of the population in Chhattisgarh, especially the tribals living in the less developed area live below the poverty line and have always been deprived of the development activities.

Agriculture is the main occupation of the people living in Chhattisgarh. Agriculture contributes to more than 50% of the net domestic product of the state. Small and marginal farmers own 63% of the holdings, which accounts for 25% of the total cultivable area. It is dependable on the monsoon rain and due to global environmental change monsoon pattern has changed drastically. To bring a sustainable and reliable agricultural system is the need of the hour; need to create alternate employment source is also required. JVM has been playing a crucial role here and is committed to create a platform where people can live their lives with dignity and self dependency.
